I don't have a pond and because I live very near a slow river and have a moist yard I get a lot of frogs visiting in from the river that stay. I've noticed they always stay where the A/C water line ends so there's always running water drops and I have a plant there which I was thinking about taking out and replacing with either another our a pond sculpture thing but not sure yet.
So seppy (a thousand years later) I recommend you take advantage of a water drain and make a garden or frog habitat there.

We have got to make a decision soon with our 11year 11month old chocolate labrador. Every time I look at him I feel so sad he has bought us so much pleasure. We have built a box lined it and will bury him in the front garden so that we will see him every time we go out and come back again. when we have to go out with out him we always say be a good boy and look after the house when we get back we give him a treat. With him being in the front we can still say be a good boy and look after the house. We cant imagine what its going to be without him as we have pretty much taken him everywhere with us and he always came on holiday, We have booked our holiday but it will never be the same without him. He has the most wonderful nature we will miss him so much and have enjoyed spoiling him. what a privilege it has been.

Is it okay for little birds to live in my staghorn fern? I only see them come 'home' at sunset, and my fern seems fine. I was just wondering about how I would cover it in a hard freeze. We had a light freeze here in Orlando, Fl. and it seems fine 5 days later. I love the wildlife and if fern and birds can co-exist, it would be lovely.

I'm surprised that with all the above comments no one mentioned one very important and costly one, diseases from mulch. I mulch my yard almost every year and when I found out that the city offered it for free, I thought I hit a gold mind. They offered three varieties from think to finely chopped up mulch which looked as good as store bought. It was worth the shoveling myself. I must have taken four truck bed full of mulch in two years, when I starting noticing a few things in my yard. Long story short I have lost three flowing plum trees, an apricot, cherry and my plum tree has developed several types of fungus. My weeping willow has carpenter worms which I am fighting. After the last rain fall I noticed in an area that I had mulched a couple of years ago a white mold that looked like fresh snow, it lasted for two days. I doubt the city yard mulch is treated in anyway and I find it a quick way to pass on diseases throughout the city. Thanks Adriana

I've had my baby for nearly 13 years now. By rights she ought to be dead - as one can argue that I neglect the poor thing - however, when she begins to droop I simple water her and the next day she forgives me and looks as good as gold again. Your comment about flouride in water would account for why the end of her leaves are brown and dry. I've always kept her in the same pot and never changed for soil - hence my earlier comment about neglect - but I plan to re-pot her into a large pot. Will this harm her at all?

I'm contemplating this decision right now as the spring is quickly approaching. Last year, I was fortunate enough to have a neighbor rototilled my garden, but I am not sure I can count on him doing it every year. I also find it necessary or beneficial to rototill the garden midseason as well, especially if I am planting a fall crop, so owning one myself is probably the best option.
