Gardening tips, gardening info and heaps of ideas to help gardeners of all experience get more out of their hobby and out of their gardens.

From a distance - in the vicinity of 21,000kms, to be precise - I've enjoyed taking part in the first ever Spring Fling. The brainchild of some of Austin's affable garden bloggers, the Spring Fling was the official meet-up for gardeners who blog the world over.
While it was predominantly, if only, attended by those living in the States, it was certainly an open doors policy to any garden blogger desiring to show up. And I'm sure that many international bloggers are already planning ahead for the 'inaugural' to become the 'annual'. I, myself, am already pained for not being able to make it this year after reading all the wonderful summary posts from the 37 bloggers who attended - a summary of the summary posts can be found here.
So, from the sidelines here in Oz, I can say that I have enjoyed it almost as much as one of the attendees - though being there would have been so much greater.
And there are some serious Kudos in order for Pam - Digging, MSS - Zanthan Gardens, Bonnie - Kiss of Sun and Diana - Sharing Nature's Garden plus all the other Austin bloggers who shared the organisational burden. What you have created has been awesome in its delivery and I can vouch for many who would love to be there next year - if there is a next year. Hopefully, there will be!

Thanks for the shout-out, Stuart. Spring Fling exceeded our wildest expectations. Our biggest fear was that no one would show up...many of us writers are self-professed introverts. Spending time and money to meet up with a bunch of strangers was a leap of faith on the part of the out-of-towners.
The best thing about it for me, aside from the actual meeting everyone and conversations, was reading about it afterwards. The different perspectives of all the various attendees has been enlightening and delightful.

Thanks, Stuart! MSS said it best, above. But I will add that I desperately wanted this to be an international event and privately urged a few Canadian garden bloggers to join us. I would have been overjoyed if the famous Stuart could have been here too.
As it turned out, it was just us Yanks this year, though the US was well represented from north to south and east to west as far as Idaho. Next year, if there is a next year (are you listening, Chicago?), I hope to meet you in person, Stuart. A certain Chicago blogger was considering a Fall Fling, which would actually be a Spring Fling for you Southern Hemisphere types.

I live in the states, but I may as well live in Oz as well! LOL. Sure looks like they had a fun time.

Hi Stuart, this year's fling was absolutely fabulous, you are so right about that. It was worth the expense and hassle of travel to meet the many bloggers attending, some familiar, some not, but all terrific. Next year's event, wherever it is, will be a must go! Hope to see you there.
