It is with a tinge of sadness and remorse that I highlight the recent post on Andee Carlsson’s blog Gardener in Chacala, Mexico. This is the only post that wasn’t published by Andee but instead by her son, regretfully notifying all her readers that she passed away last Sunday.
I can’t say that I knew Andee too well, having only commented on her blog once or twice and reading from the RSS sidelines. But it would be a lie if I said that her death, or of any blogger who I am following, doesn’t affect me – even a little.
Life is far too short and I guess the older I get the more real death becomes. Friends, peers, family all seem to be finishing their journey a lot sooner than I expected. Maybe I’m too niave hoping that we’re all going to continue blogging forever, but this is a painful reminder that we won’t be.
Her son intimated that her blogs would remain live for the time being so that others would still be able to learn about her life, her hopes, her joys and her garden.
To Andee’s son and other family members, my sincere condolences.

A lovely heartfelt post, Stuart. I think I only visited Andee’s site once or twice, but I feel a sadness; yet also a joy that we DO have such a unique blogging community, around the world, that lets us celebrate, mourn, encourage and congratulate together (depending on the circumstances.)
I hope Andee’s garden is blooming well where she is now.
Thanks for the heads up Stuart. Andee was nice enough to visit my blog occasionally and leave a nice comment or two. Its sad, but at the same time nice to know that the blogging community is really a “community” and that we can bond even though we have never met in “person”. I’ll miss Andee.
