Gardening tips, gardening info and heaps of ideas to help gardeners of all experience get more out of their hobby and out of their gardens.

Some of you may remember my rant more than a year ago about current media trying to break into the blogosphere. In it I posed the question whether garden writer, Jane Owens, was really running a blog or whether this was just another website under the guise of a blog.
Lo and behold, Jane Owens has "opened her address book to share her top pick of gardening websites" - and not one blog made it onto her list.
How does Ms Owens view the gardening blogosphere? I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
In fact Ms Owens, as you're list was on UK Gardening Websites I thought you might be interested in meeting a few of these great UK garden bloggers. Hopefully some will make it into your address book for an updated list.

Well the term states garden websites, (with a very heavy lean on the commercial side) may I add....
Now, is a blog a website or not? Or is it a term that even now we are still developing and defining? To me a blog is different to a straight website.

It could just be semantics, Bare Bones, but I see that a blog is a website but a website may not be a blog.
Certainly this site is a blog while my Blog Directory (although containing a blog) is definitely a website.
Yes/No?

You could be right.
I must admit I am not sure.. I am only still new to the concept of blogs, and still feeling my way around.
But to me it is very much a grey area, like most of life is..
One problem I see is the transitory nature of blogging. (The real age life of most blogs and their bloggers). Whereas the websites seem to be more permanent, if you can call it that in web time....
Now to me the diplomatic solution is to come up with a complimentary list of the best longer term blog sites, as well. And if they won't do it then maybe someone else should.

I've been trying to find a decent garden blog/forum/community for ages now and found them few and far between (this is the best to date actually)
Most are thinly disguised advertising vehicles which is not what I want - I know where to get 99% of what I need and how much I am prepared to pay for it. What I want is a way of interacting with people, asking questions, bouncing around ideas and suggestions. Most gardening websites don't cater for that.
