Back in the seat again...

If there is one thing you can be sure about when leaving on vacation it would be how great it is to arrive back home!

Yep...we're back! A couple days earlier than expected because I was having incredible withdrawal symptoms from not sitting in front of my blog that Deb grew tired of my constant whining...

Not quite true. The weather proved to be a formidable force once we left Albany so we kept moving northwards. We planned to spend a few nights in the Stirling Ranges but continued to Hyden after only one night, due to impending rain, happy in our decision as all we saw was blue skies ahead.

Unfortunately, we didn't take into account the reason behind the trees bending over as we drove along. Needless to say, our planned couple days in Hyden were cut short as our tent struggled to restrain the near gale force winds which drove at us relentlessly day and night.

We'd had enough by this stage and rather than try our chances elsewhere hedged our bets on a comfortable bed at home, warm showers and a chance to check the stats...

PS. Thanks to all the wonderful contributors who gave you all something far better to read than I could procure. Fortunately, the series will continue as I missed two other contributors who I will add in ensuing days. Thanks also for your wonderful well-wishes for our vacation. We had a great time and are all refreshed and looking forward to more family time - at home.

Glad you had a good holiday, although slightly shortened, and that you are home safe and sound.

Wouldn't we in the East love to have a holiday cut short by rain? Alas, no such luck.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the stories of other gardeners and even found 2 or 3 that I'd not come across before. Thank you - it was a wonderful idea.

Welcome back! Sorry I wasn't around to offer to fill in during your absense...a little thing like childbirth can get in the way of blogging!

Oh Stuart, your post brought back memories - a tent, young children and a windstorm! The tent was flattened in the middle of the night and we ran for the car. At least our heavier, canvas tent was still there in the morning - lightweight nylon tents sailed away.

Glad you were safe and refreshed.

I also have memories of our tent being damaged at Jurien Bay in WA. And it was a good canvas one. Ridge pole bent in the wind. It all becomes part of the adventure which the children will relish when they go back to school.

I think tenting stories must have some similarities with Kombi stories - it seems everyone has one.

Great to hear them as we all reminisce about those great family moments.

We had an awesome holiday and playing Spotto for blue car registration plates was definitely one of the highlights while we drove.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Nelumbo. I can feel some camping stories coming up from that family too.

Sounds like a wonderful vacation Stuart, in spite of the bit of inclement weather.
I love that photo!
Camping stories are fun :)
