What does 'Sheep Manure' and 'Paper' have in common?

sheep manure
You're going to wanna be real careful the next time you go to smell a 'Scratch & Sniff' card!

Why? Because it could be manufactured with a high level of sheep manure, or kangaroo poo. There are a few businesses springing up creating their handmade papers with recycled materials. Sheep's poo, cotton from denim jeans, flax, elephant droppings (now there's a solution to the world's paper crisis) and even beer.

Interested in seeing how they do it? These guys even have hints on how to make it yourself, and just when I was about to recommend that "you don't try this at home!"

So when next you notice a slight odour eminating from a gift card you received, test your senses and guess which animal's waste products contributed to its manufacture. Once you've finished with it, discard it in the compost - the perfect carbon/ nitrogen material.

One of my most treasured handmade books is one I bought at the Melbourne Zoo and is made from elephant poo. And there's no smell! It's a lovely textured paper (don't let your imagination go wild!).

That's a shame that there's no smell. It would be hard to authenticate whether it was "genuine" elephant poo or if they were using a mixture of smaller animals and fobbing them off as "elephant."
