Gardening tips, gardening info and heaps of ideas to help gardeners of all experience get more out of their hobby and out of their gardens.
A few weeks ago I wrote a post called A Group Of Gardeners that tried to encourage us garden bloggers come up with a collective noun for this hobby. I had a mere 4 suggestions and then sorted them into a poll that stayed on my blog for nearly 3 weeks.
The results from the poll; 1person voted for "a weed of gardeners", another for "a show of gardeners" and then four decided that it should be "something else".
Yes, I'm a little dismayed that the four who voted to have something else had little to say when it came to providing some suggestions initially. Needless to say, there is not enough votes to pick a clear winner and I shall put this on the back-burner for a later date.
Anyhow, let's move on. This week's poll is for something a little less straining on the brain as I ask gardeners what their favourite gardening season is. Do we all enjoy spring and the optimism that comes with this period? Or are we more focused on winter or summer when chores in the garden slow down a little? Perhaps autumn (fall) is your preferred season as you enjoy the changing structure of your garden.
Now it's over to you. If you had to choose the perfect season, what would it be?

I voted "winter" because that's when I order my seeds for the coming year and dream about my gardens. My gardens look best in the winter when they are not yet reality!

I can totally relate to that level of optimism.

I like May and mid spring because that's when I've got a nice clean slate and can actually get out and do some gardening.

I love autumn because the very hot days of summer are over, and autumn in Canberra is stunning. It's also a good time for bringing a little life back into the garden, even as it's falling asleep.
I like the winter effects of frost and rain (if I can remember what that is) on plants, especially bare branches or ornamental grasses.
Spring always has me in a bit of a panic because there's so much that I want/need to do all in a hurry. Spring always seems such a very short season in Canberra, about 4-6 weeks.
Summer I would love if it never got hotter than 27ยบ and rained three nights a week. Although I do love wet days in summer, especially if the blackbirds are whistling.
I think it's Spring and early Summer for me, with late Summer my least favourite time.

I agree, early spring. By the end of the summer and fall I'm burnt out on gardening; in winter I start getting excited but there's not many projects to do; so that starting out time, planting in the spring, is the best!

I just voted for autumn. I love the crispness of the air, the gorgeous colors of leaves and "dying" grasses, fall berries, and especially HALLOWEEN!
